<div>There are very few true legends in body building and Lou Ferigno is certainly one of them. In the 70s, he was a real rags to riches tale as he escalated from a humble background to worldwide fame in body building and to even more fame in his acting in the classic TV series THE INCREDIBLE HULK as the green monster. Most people may be aware of Fergino and his work. But not many know his background and this may prove very interesting even to the people who don&#8217;t follow body building.<br/><br/>Early Years<br/><br/>Lou was born deaf in Brooklyn, a suburb of New York, United States in the 1950’s. Lou became a little withdrawn and isolated because the attitude towards deaf people weren&#8217;t really progressive at that time. He started weightlifting as a hobby in his teens and became obsessed with it. He worked out everyday and watched his diet religiously. He set his sight on competing in many amateur competitions for body building. He entered and performed so well in them that he caught the eye of Joe Weider, the body building mogul. Joe brought Lou to professional body building competitions. Though Lou did really well his new profession, he divided his time between it and working in a construction company as it paid him far more than what professional body building did! Lou became featured in PUMPING IRON, a classic documentary, a documentary which brought him the attention of many a Hollywood producer.<br/><br/>The Hulk<br/><br/>During the initial days of shooting for HULK, former James Bond movie villain Richard &#8220;Jaws&#8221; Kiel bombed and Ferigno was called to play the leading role of the green goliath. Very few believed that the series would turn into a really suberb hit. But it became a colossal hit and lasted lots of years on network and cable TV and decades together in syndication. Ferigno was a bona-fide star worldwide!<br/><br/>Ferigno is well into retirement and doesn&#8217;t compete in body building competitions these days. He however, appears at numerous body building competitions as a judge and as a special guest. He also signs many autographs at various comic conventions and keeps in touch with almost all of his fans who have eagerly followed his career throughout the years. <div>Body Building concentrates on increasing the body muscles and the body mass. There are ten quick tips that can be followed to build the body mass. These tips help to increase the anabolism in the body and to create a positive nitrogen balance. Nitrogen balance can be increased by increasing the protein intake in the body. This helps in increasing the bodies&#8217; natural metabolic process. The following are the tips:<br/><br/>1. The first tip that is to be followed is to emphasize the negative aspects of the body. By saying negative aspects we mean to attain a failure state in the body. The failure state may be complete, absolute or simply failure. This is achieved when working with dumbbells or any other weight. When the dumbbell is held in a position where the body contracts, tension is created in that area. This tension helps in causing muscle hypertrophy. This tip is an easy to do technique that helps in overloading the muscles and promoting radical gains in the mass.<br/><br/>2. The second basic tip is to eat fish. This is because fish has very high amounts of fat. It produces omega-3 acids. This acid makes the muscle very sensitive towards insulin. This helps in regulating the glycogen storage and amino acid entry into the muscles.<br/><br/>3. The third tip is to increase the sodium intake in the body. Sodium is a very important mineral that regulates muscle growth. Sodium helps in enhancing the carbohydrate storage in the body and also absorbs the amino acid which in turn improves the muscle&#8217;s responsiveness to insulin.<br/><br/>4. The fourth tip is to stop doing aerobics. Aerobics interferes with strength gaining. It makes the body go lean and interferes with muscle building. Certain body builders are very busy training all the time that they forget to take rest. Taking a couple of days off will restore the glycogen, increase the process of anabolism and also restore the hormonal indexes to optimal levels.<br/><br/>8. The eighth tip is to eat in the middle of the night. Intake of excessive calories increases the anabolism in the body, which in turn facilitates the increase in the muscles.<br/><br/>9. The final tip is to increase the strength in the body by power lifting. More strength will equal more tension which in turn will increase the muscles. This means that meat chicken and fish in large quantities are in. both fish and chicken are considered good as they have less fat content in them. Although fat is an essential part of the diet, you have to be careful in not letting it cause health problems.<br/><br/>The next huge part of the intake for healthy body building is a good quantity of carbohydrates. The primary source of energy for your body that you get from the food you consume is carbohydrates. Fats at room temperature that stay in solid form such as butter and animal lard are said to be saturated fats. Good fats are also called unsaturated fats. These fats have to be taken in moderate quantities. Unsaturated fats are in liquid form at room temperature.<br/><br/>Omega 3 fatty acids are good for both the mind as well as the body.
